“The Last Pumpkin”
On Halloween night, every doorstep on Maple Street had a glowing pumpkin—except old Mrs. Wren’s.
When kids dared each other to knock, her door creaked open before they could. “No pumpkin?” one boy asked.
Mrs. Wren smiled, her eyes gleaming. “Oh, I have one,” she whispered. “It’s just not carved yet.”
Behind her, in the dim candlelight, they saw rows of jack-o’-lanterns—each one grinning with teeth shaped exactly like someone from the neighborhood.
And one pumpkin… was still blank.
