The Midnight
Every Halloween, the Stake chat goes silent. Balances freeze, lights flicker, and a strange post appears with no author:
“The Midnight Game. Winner keeps what they can hold.” — Eddie
They say Eddie wasn’t just the founder — he became the code itself, logging in once a year to challenge whoever’s online at midnight.
Last Halloween, I clicked it. My screen went black, and the roulette wheel began spinning on its own — 13, over and over. Then a message appeared: “You’ve been chosen.” My webcam light turned on. In the reflection behind me stood a hooded figure with a faint green smile. The wheel stopped. My balance flashed millions, then vanished. When the lights came back, my username had changed. It just said: Eddie.
