badger Posted September 28, 2018 #1 Posted September 28, 2018 I read bmgs reply to my blackjack post and I thought I’d point out the wonderful things I have learned from years of playing blackjack. And I’ll preface this with ‘in casinos, with decks of cards’, and not online. No one told me these things, I wish someone had. Realistically, I don’t think anyone really knows, or thinks about it. Generally, I follow the Basic Blackjack Strategy outline from my original post. But online, and online only, I get squirrely af. In a casino, I know where to make moves. This is where you go from playing 21, to maximizing your blackjack profits. Pay attention, if you don’t know these things, you’ll thank me... Normally, it’s not smart to double down when the dealer shows a face card, 9,8,7, if you didn’t know. But even better than that, and I’ll tell you the logic upfront, when the dealer shows 3,4,5,6, the bust cards, you know they have to hit, and if they hit, they can bust. Think about when you hit... You bust, right? The dealer has the same chance of busting as you. So when you know they have to hit, now is when it’s safer to double down on 11 or 10. And for the most part, everyone doubles 11 and 10, regardless of the dealers card. In a casino, I will double down on 9 and 8, against a 3,4,5,6. Online, I’ll double down with 7 and 6. Squirrely, super Squirrely. I don’t recommend splitting 20. I never do. I feel like you are going to get punished for being greedy. Cuz staying with 20, if the dealer manages to get 21, well, it happens. If you split 20, and change the outcome of the hand, and then they get 21, well, you did it to yourself, stop bein’ Greedy. However... if the possible greed ramifications don’t slow you down, only split 20 against the 3,4,5,6 cards. Even better than that, if you normally don’t split, and I typically don’t*, but I will against the bust cards, if the dealer is showing a bust card, split everything, and do it knowing that if your new hand totals 6,7,8,9,10,11, hehe, double down. Any soft anything against a bust card, double, if you don’t already. That’s just good play. There is only so much strategy that can be applied to any game. I played games for years and just played my cards. My mom and I played cribbage from the time I was 11 for years and it wasn’t until I was 15 or so that I started to see where and how to use strategeries. I’ll admit, it took me entirely to long to see blackjack as a strategy game. Or, at least a pick your spots type of game where the objective is to beat the dealer, but get more money on the table when the bust card shows because, after all, it is the bust card, and they call them that for a reason, cuz they’ll probably bust... *Wry, I agree on splitting aces, always. But I only split 8s against bust cards. I’d rather hit 16 than put double my bet amount against a potentially made or strong hand. Unless they show a 7. Then it’s split and double like it’s a bust card. Hehe, I love blackjack.

Once I realized that Blackjack was fair game except for the fact that I (as player) has to risk busting first, I became a lot less "squirrly". Of course, I also lose a lot but that is why I like playing Blackjack online, it doesn't matter what I do like it would in real life with some drunk asshole second guessing my play. Stay Lucky! P.S. Math says split your 8s, I'm a fan of you doing what you want, your coins your rules!

But in moods where I am serious and all I dont I go for stand.
