Difference Between Spam and Very Active

Ok so as you can see, my name seems to be everywhere right now and a mod even called it spam, but personally i do not see it that way.

Spam - unsolicited or undesired electronic messages

I do put effort into what I write for the most part. I mean some of my replies are even long and thoughrough. Believe it or not but there have been some good topics and ones i really like and have a lot to say too. Some are just asking for a simple quick perspective, but im never just writing quick nonsense I'm just very active at times.

I mean if there is only one person who is posting within an hour, they will have a lot of posts up. But just because they have been very active does not mean they are spamming. If all their posts were spam then they should all be reported and deleted, same for mine.

So for anyone who may fear or hesitate in being very active on forums. As long as your not posting garbage or with a few words and thought then I say dont worry about it. Now if there is a problem with being too active then perhaps a staff should make a topic in regards to how much within how much time is not allowed to clarify.

For those struggling to improve the quality of their posts, Here's some advice:

Consider these two things to use to write about:

  • Your reaction to the topic. How does it make you feel ? Don't be too dramatic, just express what your reacting to in the post and what your feeling and why it makes you feel that way. You can be passionate, just not dramatic and immature. Talk about similar personal experiences you relate with.
  • You can talk about your thoughts or perspective on the topic. In other words what you think about it. When doing this I suggest summarizing the topic in your own words so that in case you misunderstood something, the topic creator can easily clarify. Consider starting with "When it comes to ______" "When i think about _____" or "I think ______" Or you can state what your referring to in the post first and what you think about it. So you could use the quote feature and then delete any extra and then share your thoughts :D

What I consider spam is something that is vague, random, irrelevant or offtopic, and insensitive to what the Original poster expresses. (For example there's a post where someone talks about how their dog died, and someone makes a joke about it) If you don't see anyways anyone can reply going off of what you wrote then you shouldn't feel like your contributing.

I consider myself very active on the forum, I'm even known by some to be the "forum police" lol. For me, spam is one or two word reply's, or creating topics with one sentence, or a few words. Being active, means replying to topics in such a way that you add value to the post, or ask a meaningful question, which would enhance the topic idea.

There is a huge difference between those who are very active on the forum, and those who spam. Just because someone posts a lot does not necessarily mean that that person is a spammer, one should first check the type of content that they post or create, to determine whether they are a spammer, or in fact, a valuable contributor to the forum.

exactly! and thats why I created a new topic, because my previous was already closed! It was closed because someone said I already offended other users. Thats why topics are created right? to be discussed. We cant always guarantee that people will always on our side, conversation is neccessary. were exchanging thoughts, were learning!

Funny you should mention this topic because I received a Warning and 2 points on my account today in fact , it appears I am not very good at contributing to forum , My way of brightening things up a little using colour fonts and spaces between sentences that I wanted to intentionally stand is abusing the forum , Plus the warning points I got will never expire. I was under the impression you were allowed to write how you wish as long as it’s relevent and has context , maybe I got that wrong , I’m now on my last warning before permanent ban , personally I thought my input in the community was far for fantastic , but iv not had any complaints either , I’m feeling a little scolded now, Not sure if I should continue writing on the forum at all seen as one more discrgression and I’m permanently banned , kind of puts me off , the last thing I want is to not be able to contribute at all 😔

Thank you for this post. The topic is a good one. Thanks to the Pay to post format, spam is all to common on these forums.

While i love the program, it encourages people to make the same topic over with two or three words changed.

I believe if your post has more substance it rewards you better anyway, so i don't know why people don't attempt to make their posts constructive.

I got a spam notice last week and i honestly don't think that i spam. I thought that spam is something that people don't want to read or has nothing to do with the topic that you are commenting on.

I think that you do not spam, just the forum sometimes isn't very active and there are not alot of people replying to posts so it kind of looks like you are "spamming" but you are just replying to posts and being active

very good point  : )

and @bmg i dont think you spam !!! I think we both make quality content for all to swallow  up!

keep up the juicy work folks

Colorful fonts are not the problem. Too big of a spaces and plagiarized content, however, are. The points are not irrevocable, they can be easily removed if we notice the improvement in your writing style, so it is up to you to convince us wrong and that you can take the critique and make something positive out of it ;)

hi :)

your topic was closed due to comments that were getting far away from the topic you wanted to discuss on. from trivias, conversation went on to discussing if the post was spam or not.

also, main post itself is vague as to what you wanted to talk about. make it a bit clearer next time. 😊

Hi meng! Yeah its because of some people that are trying to be a mod. Even if they're not :D

QFT.

Matter of fact, even briefly going through your post - it would be pretty obvious if your content was spam.

In summary, take it with a pinch of salt.

Those with unwarranted opinions or comment from the sidelines (especially on Stake chat) obviously have not made any effort to at least read the entirety of your posts before making such judgment.

As you mentioned, I believe their guidelines on posts considered Spam to be much too focused on the duration between each post - then again, can we blame them when they happen to visit Stakeforums and see the same username/picture in the most recent comments for 10 threads? 🤣
