If the qualification requirements were too easy, the rewards wouldn't hold the same value. The concept behind these events is to create a more competitive environment where players who manage to qualify can receive more meaningful prizes. Of course, not every promotion will suit every player's preferences, and it's completely fair to dislike this format. But I don't think the difficulty alone makes it a bad promotion. Sometimes having a few harder, high-reward events alongside the more accessible ones can add variety and give players different types of challenges to aim for. Good luck to everyone participating!
