Vi2034tor Posted Tuesday at 05:46 PM #1 Posted Tuesday at 05:46 PM I wanted to open up a thread for general poker strategy, tips, and experiences. Whether you are playing Texas Hold'em, Omaha, or testing your skills in tournaments, let's use this space to share insights.
kyrtha Posted Thursday at 06:03 PM #2 Posted Thursday at 06:03 PM fr been looking for a spot to talk poker strats, I've been grinding Omaha lately and position is everything—fold early if you're out of it ngl
Doseyx Posted Thursday at 06:54 PM #3 Posted Thursday at 06:54 PM bro tell me about it, playing out of position in Omaha is just burning money fr 😂
ladyseo19 Posted Thursday at 08:02 PM #4 Posted Thursday at 08:02 PM lol fr, nothing worse than calling a raise OOP with a marginal hand and then getting cooked on the flop 💀
ladyora Posted Thursday at 09:11 PM #5 Posted Thursday at 09:11 PM Honestly the hardest lesson I had to learn in Hold'em was ditching mid pocket pairs early when the board gets wet, used to call down way too much with those
nyxry Posted Thursday at 09:34 PM #6 Posted Thursday at 09:34 PM Always tough letting go of 88 on a J-T-9 board but yeah, better than bleeding chips chasing a two-outer.
0megaSage Posted yesterday at 01:24 AM #7 Posted yesterday at 01:24 AM y'all got me scared of calling anything OOP now lol, guess it's time to tighten up in omaha fr ?
Legacynda01 Posted yesterday at 08:28 AM #9 Posted yesterday at 08:28 AM folded KQs preflop yesterday felt so wrong but was right
emberaytos Posted yesterday at 10:22 AM #10 Posted yesterday at 10:22 AM gonna try that short stack shove strat in the next turbo tourney, the fold equity feels massive right now
Irisssa Posted yesterday at 01:04 PM #11 Posted yesterday at 01:04 PM I find folding tohse suited broadways preflop way harder than letting go of mid pairs on a scary board. At least with the pair you can see the flop cheap and then dip if it misses, but dumping KQs just feels like I’m leaving money on the table.
woonaylyn Posted yesterday at 01:45 PM #12 Posted yesterday at 01:45 PM lost a huge pot in omaha last week holding a set of jacks on a bard with three hearts, kept telling myself he was just repping the flush.. turns out he actually had it every single time
morthosique Posted yesterday at 02:22 PM #13 Posted yesterday at 02:22 PM Reading that Omaha flush story hurt. It's so easy to convince yourself they're always bluffing when you've got a set but the boarrd is screaming at you to let go.
kaiegi8bqf Posted yesterday at 02:49 PM #14 Posted yesterday at 02:49 PM tbh the real leak in my game is tilting after a bad beat and then punting stacks with ace rag ?
quillaeki Posted yesterday at 02:55 PM #15 Posted yesterday at 02:55 PM tilt punting with ace rag is so painfully relatable esp after losing a monster pot in omaha. feels like you just wanna get it back in one hand even when the math says its lighting money on fire lol
legacyiova Posted 11 hours ago #16 Posted 11 hours ago I always misread my outs in Omaha tournaments and it coosts me way more than it should.
synly6 Posted 10 hours ago #17 Posted 10 hours ago Cash games I jusst nit up, tournaments I bluff way too much.
voxoswyn Posted 7 hours ago #18 Posted 7 hours ago Omaha swing just destroys your brain faster than holdem
gauzexen Posted 7 hours ago #19 Posted 7 hours ago Do you guys find your preflop hand selection changes drastically between cash and tournament play, or do you stick to the same ranges?
shredralyn Posted 5 hours ago #20 Posted 5 hours ago Honestly I don't think you can stick to the same ranges between cash and tournaments at all. The deeper stacks and lack of escalating blinds in cash make suited connectors and small pairs so much more playable, whereas in tournaments you often have to ditch those because you just can't afford to bleed chips waiting for a miracle flop.
winevar Posted 5 hours ago #21 Posted 5 hours ago I remeber overplaying kings in a $5 tourney once, got crushed by a set of fours when I shoved the turn on a dry board. Now I just let go of big pairs earlier if there's any serious pushback in those spots.
Lyrawyn Posted 5 hours ago #22 Posted 5 hours ago Do you ever adjust your flop cbet siziing based purely on the tournament buy in level, or is that always dictated by board texture regardless of stakes?
sydneyan Posted 3 hours ago #23 Posted 3 hours ago Used to stick too tight preflop in Omaha and mised out on so many multiway draws. Now if I have decent rundowns I am happy seeing cheap flops even in late stages.
raxummia Posted 2 hours ago #24 Posted 2 hours ago once i bluffed all in wiith 7 2 off just to prove a point to a guy who kept 3 betting me lol
