i saw that before in a site that predicting this and they were really sure.

Actually we can't really predict that even though that Cryptopia is even one of the most choices of more freedom with less fees it also comes with a price the less fees implies that since they get less of a share from your profits they can't keep a very secure exchange system where as binance charges 50000 satoshis for each transaction and in a day there are 100 users withdrawing hence they easily get 0.5 Bitcoin which is around 1500$ and an easy money grab for them to enhance their security.

In an update to this story Cryptopia has reported it has lost a little over 9% of it's assets.  Hopefully, they will reopen soon, as it looks like they are working toward that based on their latest Twitter posting to not deposit to any old Cryptopia deposit addresses.

Frankly, I can't imagine the rush they are going to have with everyone trying to cash out as soon as they open.  They promise many more updates soon.

Follow their twitter for the latest here:  https://twitter.com/Cryptopia_NZ

A final update:  Cryptopia has reopened, right now it is read only however so a long way from being back to normal.  I expect there will be a mad rush as everyone tries to withdraw their balances.  I at least give them credit for not giving up and running away.

hopefully, this is a wakeup call to crypto sites and they begin to up their security. if peoples funds are at risk and its the SITES fault they are stolen i believe the site should reimburse them as it is their fault their security is lacking.

In my opinoon, exchanges that hold people's funds should have insurance against these types of attacks to protect their users who store funds in it.

wow what a interesting idea, i wonder if this type of thing or insurance actually exists or not kind of like the fiat FDIC

While it is a minor exchange with relatively low volume I'm always sad to see these types of news stories.  Cryptopia has been in unscheduled maintenance mode now for over 24 hours.  This apparently was driven by it being "hacked."  While it did not have a big negative effect on BTC price, it is always bad for the community, especially for lesser known alt coins that Cryptopia hosted.

Condolences to anyone who had coins there.

Always problems with cryptopia, I stopped using them a lot ng time ago. They don't know how to properly run an exchange.

So how much was hacked? If it is a minor exchange I don't think there are big numbers
