Derick999 Posted 4 hours ago #1 Posted 4 hours ago The casino floor buzzed with noise as chips clicked across green felt tables. Ethan stood quietly at the blackjack table, watching every hand before placing a single chip. "You've been standing there for twenty minutes," the dealer said with a smile. "Waiting for luck?" Ethan shook his head. "Not luck. Patterns." A man beside him laughed. "Patterns don't beat a casino." "Neither does emotion," Ethan replied. The man doubled his next bet after a loss. Then doubled again. Within minutes, his stack of chips had disappeared. Ethan, meanwhile, played only a few carefully chosen hands. He won some and lost some, but he never chased his losses or celebrated his wins. Hours later, the same man looked at Ethan's remaining chips. "So... what's your secret?" Ethan slid his chair back. "My secret is knowing when to leave." He collected his modest winnings and walked toward the exit. The man stared after him. "You mean that's it?" Ethan smiled. "The biggest mistake people make is believing the next hand will change their life." As the casino doors closed behind him, the lights and sounds faded. Inside, the games continued. Outside, Ethan kept both his money and his peace of mind.
