For sure, it's a grind where you never really stop learning. Even when you think you've got it figured out, the game finds a way to humble you quick.

The mental side is honestly half the battle, keeping cool when someone rivers you after you got it in good separates the pros from the rest of us.

Everyone says patience and discipline till the first bad beat of the night and suddenly theyre shipping stacks with king ten offsuit. I just try not to be the entertainment at the table honestly.

id rther fold queens preflop and look like a nit than call off my stack just to see some lunatic flopped a set again, patience feels way harder but at least i keep my chips lol

yeah mastering it is one thing but actually playing like a master when you're three buyins deep and tilted is a whole different story. i personally stopped looking at the game as something to beat and just treat it like paying for a fun puzzle now

Trying to be a master technician with solvers and ranges is cool, but I would rather master the art of staying ice cold when someone hits a two outer on the river.

I used to think it was all about memorizing hand charts but then I played a live session where an old guy folded aces face up preflop because he said his gut told him the other player had kings, and he was right.

I would rather have the discipline to fold a big hand than the ego to hero call every time, the money you save is way more valuable than the thrill of being right once.
