quadri ridwan Posted Tuesday at 06:49 PM #1 Posted Tuesday at 06:49 PM The rules of different poker variants (such as Texas Hold'em or Omaha). Betting strategies and when to fold, call, or raise. Reading opponents' behavior ("poker tells"). Tournament results or famous poker players. Bankroll management and responsible gambling. Sharing hands and discussing the best way to play them.
Pyxesse11 Posted 23 hours ago #2 Posted 23 hours ago Tbh I think bankroll management is where most people mess up before they even get to the tables. You can't make good decisions if you're scared money.
Wrenvar Posted 22 hours ago #3 Posted 22 hours ago Tbh that scared money point hits hard—nothing tanks your reads faster than worrying about the rent in the middle of a hand.
cedarxen5 Posted 20 hours ago #4 Posted 20 hours ago Bankroll management is the real meta-game tbh. Played with scared money once and folded top pair to a stone-cold bluff, never again.
auroratos688 Posted 20 hours ago #5 Posted 20 hours ago Fr, reading tells is fun but useless if you're not rolled right—you start seeing ghosts in every bet. Gotta get that foundation sorted first.
phanry30 Posted 17 hours ago #7 Posted 17 hours ago I'd rather study opponents' betting patterns than their body language, much more reliable in online poker.
selenealix Posted 14 hours ago #8 Posted 14 hours ago i lean towards online patterns too, body language is a bit overrated unless you are at a live high roller table where the stakes make everyone leak micro expressions. studying bet sizing and timing online just feels way more concrete and repeatable.
vaelelna8 Posted 14 hours ago #9 Posted 14 hours ago It is wild how often people forget to mention stack sizes in the OP when asking for hand advice.
pelturra Posted 13 hours ago #10 Posted 13 hours ago Stack sizes are everything for me, half the bad advice in hand threads comes from people not mentioning them and the other half from not adjusting for them. I started folding way more when my stack dipped below 40BB and it’s boring but it works.
Zylixlyn Posted 13 hours ago #11 Posted 13 hours ago dumping a bad beat story in the chat somehow helps me tilt less lol
Umbraalora2 Posted 12 hours ago #12 Posted 12 hours ago honestly the best thing i ever did for my game was just folding more preflop and not feeling like i have to defend every blind, it sounds boring but my bankroll stopped disappearing so fast lol. tournament results are fun to watch but i get more out of dissecting one hand for an hour than watching a whole final table.
autumnumelle Posted 3 hours ago #14 Posted 3 hours ago I used to obsess over live tells but honestly after playing both I think focusing on bet sizing patterns online sharpens your instincts way more, you just cant rely on physical reads the same way anymore and half the time they mislead you anyway
ravenollyn Posted 1 minute ago #15 Posted 1 minute ago I get where you're coming from about folding more preflop but I actually think that advice can go too far, especilly at softer tables where people call way too light post flop. I'd rather loosen up a bit and just outplay them on later streets.
