Poker has that weird way of looking super simple on tv but then you sit down and suddenly you're sweating over a pair of threes. I just stuck to watching cash game streams with the chat explaining the bad beats and somehow the rules snuck into my brain without trying.

i find the idea of a game "looking good" but not knowing how to play it so relatable, poker really draws you in with the aesthetics then slaps you with confusion the second you sit down

Its funny you mention how it looks good, that smooth table felt did the same thing to me. Made me sit down and lose a bunch of play money before I even knew what a flush was.
