One thing that really helped my patience was focusing more on the players than my own cards, especially when I was in early position wih a marginal hand. It’s weird how much info you can pick up just by watching who looks too eager to bet before the flop even hits.

But honestly half the time my "smart" folds just let the river give me a card I was waiting for anyway.
