Yeah the Raimi ones just understood the assignment, no amount of CGI can beat that practical suit and Willem Dafoe's unhinged energy.

Fr the Raimi suit still looks better than half the CGI mess we get now, and Dafoe was on a whole other level of crazy in that mask.

I still remember watching the first one on a tiny box TV in my parents' living room and that upside down kiss just blew my mind as a kid. The Green Goblin was genuinely scary back then too, not like some of the goofy villains we got later.

Spiderverse completely redefined what an animated superhero film could be, way more inventive than any live action version. That constant creative risk taking in the visuals and story put it on anohter level for me.

Honestly I thought the first Sam Raimi one is still the best, the newer stuff feels too polished and safe. The original had this weird charm that really nailed what Peter Parker is about, awkward and all.

I watched the first Raimi one in a packed theater and the whole room gasped at that upside down kiss scene, still gives me chills thinking about it.

If you want to really enjoy the web swinging sequences on a rewatch, turn on any motion smoothing settings your TV has for a few scenes, it gives a weirdly hyper real feel like you are actually swinging through the city.

idk man i felt like the pacing was knida off in the middle, lost a bit of steam before the big finale still a fun watch but not the flawless ride everyone keeps saying
