When Stake officially rolled out its own browser-only poker room, the hardcore poker community on X immediately started debating one specific rule: third-party tracking software and HUDs (Heads-Up Displays) are strictly banned.  

On traditional online poker sites, professional players use HUD software that overlays right on the screen. This software tracks every move an opponent makes, gathering data on exactly how often they fold, bluff, or raise. It basically gives data-heavy pros an massive statistical hammer to smash casual players who are just trying to have some fun on a Friday night.

By completely banning these tools, Stake flatted the playing field. The ongoing discussions on X point out that this single rule has turned Stake into one of the "softest" and most casual-friendly poker environments online.

reading the op halfway i realized it cuts off too lol but yeah they basically removed the one thing that lets tryhards ruin casual tables so it makes sense everyone just wants to sit and click without a spreadsheet screaming at them

I feel like banning HUDs was the smartest move they could've made because sitting across from someone with a full stat sheet isn't poker, it's just homework. I'd rather lose to a lucky river than get mathematically dismantled by a robot any day.

I hopped on last week and saw a guy fold kings preflop just because he had a read from the table chat. On any other site he'd be staring at a HUD that says "villain 3bet% = 1.2" and snap fold anyway but here it actually felt like he was playing the person.

Saw a hand yesterday where someone triple barreled with absolute air because they just read the table flow perfectly. Try pulling that off on a site where half the field is running GTO solvers on a second monitor.
