bro its basically a battle of who has the strongest 5 card combo except half the game is convincing everyone else yours is trash or the nuts lol the adrenaline when both hole cards hit the flop is actually unmatched

Everyone says it's about bluffing and reading people but honestly most beginners lose because they play way too many hands, folding is literally the hardest skill to learn.

honestly the rush you get from catching someone bluffing on the river is unmatched especially in texas holdem when you know the pot odds were barely in your favor

I folded pocket aces preflop once just to see if I could and the table lost teir minds. The simple version is you make the best five card hand but most of the real game is just not letting your curiosity get the better of you.

Honestly the way I explain it to newbies is you get two cards and try to match them with the five on the table to make the best hand possible but the real trick is half the time youre playing the other people not the cards. I remember a hand last week where I had nothhing at all just a nine high and the board was scary but I kept raising small and the other guy folded what he later said was a pair of kings so sometimes the cards dont even matter.

My granddad tried explaining poker to me once but got so miffed wehn I checked a pair of kings that he gave up and just mumbled "you either get 5 cards that beat their 5 cards
