Honestly my whole method fell apart recently when I tailed Haaland against Luton and suddenly it’s a John Stones header from a scramble after 4 minutes. The odds on a defender scoring first are almost always disrespectful if you spot a mismatch on corners.

i lean on the set piece takers more than the strikers, like a fullback with a sneaky free kick or a midfielder who alays crashes the box early. got burned too many times picking the main forward when the defender just nods one in from a corner in the 3rd minute.

I lean toward the volume shooter over the "obvious" penalty taker these days. A winger who just unloads early always feels more alive in the first 15 minutes than a striker witing for service.

I usually look at a player's recent form, their scoring record against the opponent, and whether they’re starting in a favorable position. Sometimes the odds also play a big role!

I usually look at their recent form, lineup positions, and any matchup history against the opposing team. If they’ve been hot lately and have a good chance to be in the right spot, I’m all in!

I see the logic but honestly fading the obvious pick is risky just to be clever, sometimes the striker really is the guy for a reason like poaching loose balls right after kickoff.

It usually depends on their recent form, matchups against the opposing team, and their overall scoring ability. You can also consider factors like injury updates and starting lineup changes!
