Heazzy Posted Thursday at 01:40 AM #1 Posted Thursday at 01:40 AM Do you think Yamal could be the roadblock to Messi’s World Cup dream for 2026
peltari Posted Thursday at 08:33 PM #2 Posted Thursday at 08:33 PM Nah, if Messi even plays in 2026 he’ll be 39 and probably coming off the bench. Yamal might be special but Argentina’s real roadblock is France or Brazil tbh.
homoen Posted Thursday at 08:58 PM #3 Posted Thursday at 08:58 PM Nah, Spain as a whole has been looking scary, but I’m more worried about them running into a stacked France side than just one kid stopping Messi’s farewell tour.
homoxen Posted Thursday at 09:04 PM #4 Posted Thursday at 09:04 PM Nah, Yamal’s incredible but Messi’s biggest fight in 2026 will be his own legs holding up, not some teenager on the wing.
luxelle Posted Thursday at 09:17 PM #5 Posted Thursday at 09:17 PM Messi’s farewell tour doesn’t end with a teenager, it ends when his knees finally tap out – Yamal’s just a side quest in that story.
Luxienne Posted Thursday at 09:48 PM #6 Posted Thursday at 09:48 PM Yamal's not stopping a fairytale ending, he's just a plot twist in a movie we've been watching for 20 years
Shredorora0 Posted yesterday at 11:45 AM #7 Posted yesterday at 11:45 AM Honestly the whole Yamal hype train is a bit much, he’s good but he hasnt faced a team like Argentina in a knockout match yet. If Messi’s dream dies it’ll be from France or Brazil just overpowering them, not some teenage narrative.
maxq1o7p6c Posted yesterday at 12:31 PM #8 Posted yesterday at 12:31 PM tbh messi already got his fairytale ending in 2022, anything else is just bonus content ?
umbraraus Posted yesterday at 03:42 PM #9 Posted yesterday at 03:42 PM I doubt one player on the wing will be what sinks an entire Argentina squad honestly.
moutainy Posted 19 hours ago #10 Posted 19 hours ago ngl yamal aint teh roadblock bro, messi vs time is the real final boss no cap ?
Dolz6996 Posted 19 hours ago #11 Posted 19 hours ago Norway will ruin their hope once they clash in the semis
wrenenne Posted 14 hours ago #14 Posted 14 hours ago Calling Yamal a roadblock feels premature. That Spain team as a whole has so many weapons, it won't be down to one teenager stopping Messi anyway. zkenpachi 1
rexick Posted 13 hours ago #16 Posted 13 hours ago watching yamal play reminds me of that goal messi scored against getafe way back when, feels like deja vu
tyxnda Posted 12 hours ago #17 Posted 12 hours ago Watched Spain play Morocco last month and Pedri ran the whole show while Yamal was fairly quiet honestly.
thornva Posted 11 hours ago #18 Posted 11 hours ago it wont be Yamal alone that stops Messi, the whole Spain midfield just suffocates teams now compared to Argentina's aging legs honestly. if they meet it'll be more about Pedri controlling tempo than some wonderkid moment.
nyxumzyl18 Posted 10 hours ago #19 Posted 10 hours ago I saw him destroy a defender so fast last week the guy just sat down, so yea maybe.
Wrenora Posted 9 hours ago #21 Posted 9 hours ago Honestly I think people hype up Yamal a bit too much riight now, he's incredible but 2026 is still far away and a single winger doesn't usually decide a knockout match on his own. Argentina's whole system and Messi's ability to show up in big moments feels like a much safer bet than banking on a teenager carrying Spain the whole way.
kyrvi Posted 7 hours ago #23 Posted 7 hours ago watched him nutmeg my cousin in a friendly once honestly
frostaress Posted 6 hours ago #24 Posted 6 hours ago Yamal is definitely a special talent but I wonder if Spain can build a defense solid enough to contain Argentina for 90 minutes, because that seems like the bigger unknown right now. Do you think their midfield control will be enough or does someone on their side need a breakout performance to seal it?
striketos Posted 4 hours ago #25 Posted 4 hours ago Every time I watch Argentina in a knockout game it feels like they just decide not to lose, and that stubbornness is harder to break than any one dribbler. Yamal is fun to watch but stopping Messi’s script requires a whole team to be perfect for 90 minutes and I don't see Spain there yet.
