  • Brazil’s shocking 2-1 Round of 16 exit at the hands of Norway has sent shockwaves through South America. Despite boasting world-class individual talent, the Seleção struggled to break down a organized European low block and looked vulnerable on the counter-attack. Is it time for a structural overhaul in Brazilian tactical coaching?

Tbh it’s painful how predictable it’s become, all that talent but they freeze against any team with a real structure. A tactical shift feels less like an overhaul and more like basic survival at this point.

Tbh the Norway game just exposed what we've all been seeing for years, no midfield control and zero patience against a deep block. It's less about a total overhaul and more about getting a coach who can actually mesh that talent into a real system.

That midfield was nonexistent the moment Norway sat back, just sideways passing with zero penetration. They need a system that doesn't crumble the second individual brilliance isn't enough.

Tbh it's less about a full overhaul and more about finally hiring a coach who values shape over just vibes, because that midfield had no clue how to pull a low block apart.

I get the frustration but ppl keep acting like this Norway loss means the whole philosophy is rotten, which feels like a bit much. We're talking about a team that lost a chaotic knockout game by one goal, not some humiliating group stage crash. Sometimes you just run into a hot keeper and a parked bus on a bad day.

A simple fix would be drilling overlapping fullbacks until it's second nature because against a parked bus you need width delivered from wide areas not just dancing inside clogged pockets.

ngl brazil got too comfy hoping talent saves em, then norway said bet and hit em on the break ? structural change gotta happen fr

I remember watching a Copa Libertadores match last year where even the commentators were baffled that a Brazilian side with three times the budget couldn't break down a basic 4 4 2, and honestly it feels like the same script just played out on the biggest stage.

That Norway low block just swallowed them whole. The amount of individual brilliance in that squad means nothing if you let them get picked off because the fullbacks push up and nobody covers. I keep thinking about how they barely survived group play and hoping some homegrown coaches step up their tactical game fast.

everyone keeps saying "overhaul the coaching" but the real fix is way simpler, they need to actually train overlapping runs against a deep block instead of just relying on vinicius cutting inside 30 times

I actually think the coaching issue is overblown, Norway just executed their game plan perfectly and sometimes a well drilled defense beats even the most talented side on the day.
