Bernard8400 Posted July 9 #1 Posted July 9 Are young players becoming overrated because of social media and huge transfer fees?
vaelora Posted July 9 #2 Posted July 9 For sure, the hype train leaves the station way too early these days. One good season and suddenly they're priced like they've already won a Ballon d'Or.
phanver Posted July 9 #3 Posted July 9 No doubt, clubs are gambling on potential instead of proven quality now. A few viral clips and suddenly a teenager costs more than a World Cup winner.
sophnda Posted July 9 #4 Posted July 9 Honestly the fees are insane but I think the real problem is the pressure that comes with it. Hard to develop properly when you're carrying a €100m price tag at 19.
Sydneyki Posted July 9 #5 Posted July 9 For sure, the hype train leaves the station way too early these days. One good season and suddenly they're priced like they've already won a Ballon d'Or. 🎯👑
Gauzelike61 Posted July 9 #6 Posted July 9 Tbh the price tag is whatever, it's the instant GOAT comparisons after one decent game that kills me. Let them breathe a bit before we start the Messi edits.
tyclyn Posted July 9 #7 Posted July 9 Yeah the fee inflation is wild but social media makes it way worse, one decent run gets clipped into a 4k compilation with some awful trap beat and suddenly they're the next big thing.
norixtia Posted July 10 #8 Posted July 10 Do you think it would help if clubs just muted all their social accounts for the first two sesons after signing a kid?
xceddd Posted July 10 #9 Posted July 10 Do y’all count messi as young talent cause man somebody stop him
salieriyoo Posted July 10 #10 Posted July 10 Yes, they are overrated nowadays. Rather to give opportunity young players from their academy, many clubs already spend alot money to buy from other
shrednda Posted July 10 #11 Posted July 10 Do you think it’s more the agent pumping the hype or just fan pages making everyone look like a future icon off one tap in? Sometimes I wonder if the cubs themselves buy into it and that’s why we see these wild fee jumps.
Nylramia Posted July 10 #13 Posted July 10 The market has definitely lost its mind wiht some of these fees but I think the real problem is that fans and pundits expect a finished product from a 19 year old after one good month.
ryogvmg8k9y Posted July 10 #14 Posted July 10 fr some of these kids got more highlight reels than actual minutes played ? let em cook before we call em the next goat ?
kovaellyn14 Posted July 10 #15 Posted July 10 Clubs paying 80 million for a teenager who had six good games was always gonna create this mess.
dAYATo Posted July 11 #16 Posted July 11 yeah fr one flashy month and ppl act like teh kid is the next goat, social media gasses em up way too fast ? bro
onyxly4 Posted July 11 #17 Posted July 11 its more like they get priced as superstars before they even figure out their own game. half the time the pressure crushes them before they get a chance to develop proper
ivshengyn722 Posted July 11 #18 Posted July 11 do you think the huge wages make em losse motivation faster or is it just the media pressure?
yxon Posted July 11 #19 Posted July 11 I saw it happen with a winger from Brazil my club signed last season. Scored a bicycle kick in the Copa Libertadores and suddenly every Twitter clip made him look like the second coming, but his actual positioning was shocking for months.
Runemia Posted July 11 #20 Posted July 11 It feels like we forget that raw talent isn't the same as being consistent over a full season, especially when every kid with a flick or a nutmeg goes viral. Do you reckon scouts are actually evaluating them differently now or is it just the marketing departments losing their heads?
luxuriantly9 Posted July 11 #21 Posted July 11 The system feeds on hype because a million Instagram followers sells shirts faster than a player's actual development. It is less about rating the kid and more about inflating the asset before anyone notices the flaws.
ivoryraund Posted July 11 #23 Posted July 11 If you’re betting on these matches, look at minutes played not just the highlight reels, a kid with 30 appearances off the bench is way different than a starter. The hype hides when they disappear for 70 minutes then pop up with one goal that gets clipped everywhere.
Zney Posted July 11 #24 Posted July 11 For sure, the hype train leaves the station way too early these days. One good season and suddenly they're priced like they've already won a Ballon d'Or. 🎯👑
krxalra361 Posted July 13 #25 Posted July 13 my mate paiid 200 for a mitn card of that la masia kid who flopped hard
