knew a guy in my local sunday league who was actually insane, like messi level dribbling but never made it pro. he would take the goat without the cup any day cause at least everyone remembers the flash. id rather be the guy who left people speechless even if the trophy cabniet is empty

i feel like the avg player with a medal has a story he can bore his grandkids with forever, the other guy jsut has a sad documentary and a bunch of what ifs

The greatest player part sticks with me because that label sort of locks you into a sad story forever, like every documentary will zoom in on that one miss or that one tournament where your teammates let you down. I could not live with my entire legacy being defined by the trophy I did not get.
