It is reportedly related to suspected money laundering and bank fraud involving transactions in the United States.

My cousin works compliance at a mid size bank and he said they flag SWIFT transfers from Argentine clubs all the time, apparently the fees on player transfers sometimes go to random shell accounts that trigger automatic red flags.

I remember a friend who worked in compliance at a US bank freaking out over a single wire transfer from buenos aires that triggered like 5 automated flags instantly. once that dollar touches new york they just follow it back like a dog with a scent.

I remember a similar thing happened with a supplier we used in Chile years ago, FBI got involved just becuase a single payment routed through a bank in Miami. Onnce those dollar transactions hit the US system it’s like they can't help but poke around.

yeah the OP sounds jsut as lost as i am lol but honestly it's probably something as boring as some shady wire transfer that touched a miami bank account, they just follow the paper trail wherever it leads

I remmeber back in 2015 some friends in Buenos Aires had theeir bank accounts frozen overnight cause the feds traced a small shell company's wire transfer straight to miami, and suddenly the FBI was poking around their business like they owned the place

I don’t know why they do that

I see everyone jumping to the AFA money trail theory but the fbi has also looked into match fixing scandals in South America before, not always just bank wires. a weird defeat or sudden betting spike cold just as easily be the trigger here
