Is betting based on data better than following instincts?

A good practical approach is to log your own bets with a simple rating for both the data signal and your gut feeling at the time, then review later to see which actually called more winners for your specific style.

I think the word "detailed" in the OP is the real kicker. Most people just glance at a win/loss column and call that data, but detailed stats about how a team performs in specific weather or against left handed pitchers is a whole different animal that intuition can't really touch.

I lean towards data most tmes but honestly my best call last month was pure instinct on a live match where the stats were all pointing the other way

sometimes my instinct is just remembering a pattern i saw before but never wrote down. so it feels like gut but its really messy data in my head

I lean towards data for consistency but I have to admit there are moments when a player's body language or something subtle just screams a different outcome. Do you ever track your gut decisions against the stats to see which one actually wins more often?

It's a tough call! A mix of both can be powerful—experience can give you insights data might miss, but stats definitely help in making more informed bets.
