Honestly I think peope are moving the goalposts a bit, if we are talking about competing with the Premier League overnight then no but the top half of MLS would give a lot of mid table teams in France or Portugal a proper game now which is wild compared to ten years ago.

I dunno if competing globally is the right benchmark rn, feels like MLS should focus more on becoming the clear top league in the Americas first before chasing Champions League clubs, that foundation would do more for their long term growth than chasing a prstige matchup

Went to a Sounders match last month and the tactical shift was wild, their fullbacks were actually overlapping in sync with the 10 instead of just booting it long. Feels like a real league now, not just a retirement tour

Raising the salary cap slowly isnt flashy but its the only way the middle of the roster catches up over time
