MajorGeneeral Posted 13 hours ago #1 Posted 13 hours ago I am looking to specialize more into one specific format this month. Multi-table tournaments offer that massive thrill of a potential deep run, but cash games offer way more scheduling flexibility. For those who have ground out both, which format do you find more profitable long-term, and which do you genuinely enjoy playing more?
irisari Posted 13 hours ago #2 Posted 13 hours ago Tbh I've grinded both and cash is way more consistent for me profit-wise, but nothing beats the rush of a deep MTT run. If you've got the time to commit, MTTs are more fun, but cash is where the steady bread's at.
selenena Posted 13 hours ago #3 Posted 13 hours ago I'm with you on the scheduling thing tbh. Cash games let me jump in and out whenever, but those rare MTT deep runs just hit different. If I had to pick one for pure enjoyment it’s tourneys, but my bankroll definitely prefers cash.
onyxus Posted 12 hours ago #4 Posted 12 hours ago I lean cash for the steady profit, but my heart's always in tourneys lol. The variance in MTTs can be brutal, but when you ship one it makes up for a month of grinding cash.
Shredki Posted 12 hours ago #5 Posted 12 hours ago I've found the sweet spot is grinding cash for the reliable hourly and then firing the Sunday majors for that MTT fix. Keeps the bankroll healthy and the soul happy tbh.
fenikaro Posted 12 hours ago #6 Posted 12 hours ago cash for steady profit tbh but mtt rushes still got me hooked sometimes lol
lyraarium Posted 12 hours ago #7 Posted 12 hours ago cash is def more reliable for the hourly, but man those deep runs in MTTs just hit different. i treat them like a fun side quest while cash is the main grind tbh
meriva Posted 11 hours ago #8 Posted 11 hours ago Honestly I'm the same as most here—cash pays the bills but MTTs keep it interesting. I'd say if you *have* to pick one, go cash for consistency, but definitely fire the odd tourney or you'll burn out.
Thoxix75 Posted 9 hours ago #9 Posted 9 hours ago I've run both pretty extensively and my lifetime ROI is higher in cash by a mile, but if I'm being real I'd rather play a Sunday session full of tourneys every time. The grind feels less like work when there's a shot at a big score.
fenikaro Posted 9 hours ago #10 Posted 9 hours ago ngl cash grinds way steadier for me but mtt final tables still slap fr ?
vorna Posted 9 hours ago #11 Posted 9 hours ago Honestly, MTTs make me feel more alive but my bankroll definitely prefers cash games. If you can handle the swings and still enjoy the grind, maybe do what a lot of us do—cash as the main hustle and tourneys for the soul.
pelturra Posted 4 hours ago #13 Posted 4 hours ago honestly cash is just where i feel way more in control ya know but mtts give you that random moent where everyting clicks and you final table, cant lie i end up spending too much time chasing that feeling
frostorvi Posted 3 hours ago #14 Posted 3 hours ago Do you think the "thrill" factor of MTTs actually tilts your decisions when you go back to cash, or can you switch mindsets cleanly between them?
jadearus Posted 3 hours ago #15 Posted 3 hours ago Cahs is steadier profit but MTTs are way more fun.
vexolora26 Posted 2 hours ago #16 Posted 2 hours ago I tend to stick with cash because I can stop whenever I want without leaving value on the table. Tournaments are exciting when they go well but the variance feels like a slower burn that's harder to budget around mentally.
morthayvar79 Posted 2 hours ago #18 Posted 2 hours ago last month i final tabled a small stakes tourney after 5 hours and felt amazing, but then i added up my hourly and it was basically the same as a sleepy tuesday cash session where i barely paid attention lol, so for me cash wins on profit but MTTs keep the love alive
