the near miss effect is a big part of it, your brain treats "almost winning" almost the same as actually winning so you just keep spinning

tbh it's crazy how the brain rewires itself from just a few small wins, next thing you know you're convincing yourself one more spin will fix everything

it’s literally designed that way, the lights and sounds trick your brain into thinking you’re winning even when you’re down bad

my cousin used to only put in 20 bucks for fun and then one night he chased a bonus round for three hours straight without even blinking. its wild how fast the switch flips from casual to compulsive.

i mean i kinda get what you’re saying but its not always about small wins rewiring your brain, sometimes people just have an addictive personality and it would ltach onto anything really.

For me it was playing those silly plinko balls, lost like 5 bucks but then the next day I caught myself spending 15 more just to "break even" on a 5 cent drop lol. The platform design makse you forget actual money value real quick.
