Babylonia Posted Thursday at 07:38 PM #1 Posted Thursday at 07:38 PM Poker is actually nice, though.Â
phantha Posted Thursday at 08:45 PM #2 Posted Thursday at 08:45 PM It really is, once you get past the bad beats it’s such a fun mental game
Kovarel Posted Thursday at 09:12 PM #3 Posted Thursday at 09:12 PM It’s the perfect mix of patience and aggression tbh, nothing else scratches that same itch.
Kazari Posted Thursday at 09:19 PM #4 Posted Thursday at 09:19 PM Yeah totally agree, it’s that blend of math and reading people that keeps me coming back even after a rough session.
kyryn Posted Thursday at 09:34 PM #5 Posted Thursday at 09:34 PM For sure, it’s one of those games where you can lose four hands in a row and still feel like you made the right plays
cedarast Posted Thursday at 09:40 PM #6 Posted Thursday at 09:40 PM Fr, the mental reset after a rough run is what separates the grinders from the rest — you gotta love that part of it.
wickumyth Posted yesterday at 10:27 AM #8 Posted yesterday at 10:27 AM Yeah it's that feeling when you bluff someone off a pot and they sit there for 10 seconds before folding, makes the whole session worth it
Faitharra Posted yesterday at 10:46 AM #9 Posted yesterday at 10:46 AM I remember folding pocket queens preflop once because the table was just too tight and the other guy instantly showed aces, felt like a gnius for the rest of the week. Moments like that make up for the dozen times you call when you probably shouldn't.
runeiooria Posted yesterday at 02:30 PM #10 Posted yesterday at 02:30 PM I once sat at a microstakes table where this guy went all in on every single hand for like twenty minutes straight, and somehow he quadrupled his stack before the inevitable crash. The sheer chaos of that session reminded me why poker is never just about the cards.
Novaixry Posted yesterday at 04:57 PM #11 Posted yesterday at 04:57 PM Is it really though? The rake eats so much.
zylver17 Posted 12 hours ago #12 Posted 12 hours ago Poker is nice until you run into that one reg who just 3 bets your whole stack away, you got a way to handle those types or just avoid em entirely?
steinvi Posted 12 hours ago #13 Posted 12 hours ago i'd rather take the chaotic microstakes gambler than the tight reg any day, at least the chaos is fun
Shredki Posted 8 hours ago #15 Posted 8 hours ago Do you prefer the patience of cash games or the fast pace of tournaments?
vorna Posted 7 hours ago #16 Posted 7 hours ago tournaments stress me out too much tbh, cash games feel a lot more like you can just get up whenever and not feel trapped in a bad run of cards. still not sure why i keep sitting down at tables where i know the regs are gonna chase me out of evey small pot
kaziozyl747 Posted 6 hours ago #17 Posted 6 hours ago Honestly I get the appeal but poker feels overrated when half the table is just folding everything until they hit a monster, it gets stale real fast. I'd rather play something like blackjack where at least the pace keeps you awake even if the odds arent much better.
Gauzeraax9 Posted 6 hours ago #18 Posted 6 hours ago Honesttly the real magic of poker is when everyone at the table has exactly one drink in them and the banter gets rolling.
sophwyn54 Posted 3 hours ago #20 Posted 3 hours ago If you want the table to loosen up a bit, open way wider from late position when the blinds are nits. Stealing their blinds a few times in a row tends to wake up the whole dynamic.
Ivshengyn7 Posted 2 hours ago #21 Posted 2 hours ago Honstly half the skill in poker is just waiting out the people who need action every hand, then stacking them when your actual cards finally come.
