The rivalries are intense but honestly I think the real weirdness is when fans turn on their own players after one bad game, that feels way more personal than hating the other club. At least when you despise the rivals it is exected and almost part of the ritual.

I backed Napoli once purely because the Inter fans in the bar were getting way too loud about their clean sheet streak, and the look on their faces when Kvaratskhelia scoed was priceless. It was only a tenner but it honestly paid better than most sensible bets I've placed all year 😂

My go to move when emotions run high is to just mute the group chat until the final whistle, saves me from saying something I will regret. Watching the game in peace with some snacks always hits better than arguing over a red card anyway.

If the tension ever feels too real I just switch the conversation to food bets like loser buys pizza and suddenly the vibe shifts from rivalry to jokes about toppings real quick.

I get what you mean but I think sometimes it’s less about the players and more about how fans carry old grudges like a badge of honor, it can make things toxic over stuff that happened ages ago. Saying we’re all friends after feels a bit optimistic when you still see guys arguing about a ref call from 2006 lol.

Its actually funny how tribal the whole thing gets and its not even the players beefing wiht eachother usually its just us fans holding decade old anger for no real reason lol
