Always been Messi for me but I can see why the older heads stick with Maradona or Pele, diferent eras and all that. What’s your take on longevity versus pure peak when you're deciding your GOAT?

I get why everyone leans Messi but I think longevity and reinventing yourself in different leagues gives Ronaldo a serious edge. Doing it in England, Spain, and Italy at the highest level and staying at the top for so long juts hits different for me.

Im taking Messi but i was legit sweating the odds on his world cup run, almost cashed out early in that final against France what a rollercoaster. That whole tournament just cemented it for me over CR7 honestly.

I honestly thnk the constant Messi vs Ronaldo talk overshadows how many people sleep on Maradona. Man dragged Napoli and Argentina to glory in an era where defenders could basically assasinate you and still stay on the pitch.

I get why people say Messi but it feels like the GOAT debate always ignores defensive players. You nveer hear someone make a case for Maldini or Beckenbauer and that seems kinda flawed to me

If you want a fresh angle on this debate, try judging by how many different roles a player could dominate in rather than just trophies. That filter usually shuts down the recency bias real fast and makes older all rounders look a lot more impressive.
