Checking the flop out of position: Weakness or trap?

The kicker matters a lot when deciding whether to bet or check.

I prefer a small bet rather than a large one when I decide to lead.

Checking can protect your entire range and prevent your play from becoming predictable.

On coordinated boards, giving a free card can be very dangerous.

If the opponent calls too much, betting top pair for value is usually better.

i lean towards leading out more often just because if you check and they bet big you're in a tough spot guessing if they actually hit something. do you find yourself getting raised a lot when you do lead out or do most people just call?

Most times I juts bet and accept the pain when they raise

I usually lean toward betting out, even if it feels a bit awkward being first to act. Letting them see a free card when you're holding top pair out of position just gives too much rope and I've been burned by that check more times than I can count
