synelxen Posted July 10 #2 Posted July 10 Honestly I dont think the world cup matters as much as it used to, feels too commerical now but if I had to pick maybe Argentina just for Messi
vycioique Posted July 10 #4 Posted July 10 I wouldn't call it meaningless just yet, but I get what you mean. For me it's still Brazil, even if their defense is a bit shaky this time.
kovaanlia Posted July 11 #5 Posted July 11 I bet on Senegal back in 2002 just becuse my mate kept raving about Diouf and it actually paid off nicely lol
doseenvi00 Posted July 11 #6 Posted July 11 france is my pick ever since that 98 final in paris, watched it on a tiny crt tv lol
yogpog Posted July 11 #7 Posted July 11 Ive been leaning toward Argentina too honestly just feels right seeing Messi get that final shot. Football fandom is weird though, I backed Croatia last time just cause their kit was class and now I act like I have deep tactical reasons.
cloteon Posted July 11 #9 Posted July 11 England again tbh, that squad looks stacked even if the manager leaves me nervious sometimes. Feels like it has to happen eventually right?
tyxus Posted July 11 #10 Posted July 11 Bet on corners instead of goals if you're unsure about the winner, way less neve wracking.
Tycirki93 Posted July 11 #11 Posted July 11 I threw a fiver on Japan to beat Germany last time around just because my coworker wouldn't stop going on about their pressing style and the payout was so sweet I almost felt bad for him. Not really though.
krxan6 Posted July 12 #12 Posted July 12 I usually just wait and see whos got momentum by the quarters, picking early never really worked for me anyway. Saw too many big teams flop at the strt to commit early.
Sydneyelle3 Posted July 12 #13 Posted July 12 honestly i stopped pickng a side and just tail the team that looked most awake in the group stage openers, way fewer busted sips that way.
pyxkaess0 Posted July 13 #15 Posted July 13 I don't really root for anyone anymore honestly, feels like picking a favorite team just sets you up for stress when they inevitably bottle it in the knockouts. I'd rather just enjoy the chaos and maybe throw a small bet on whoever's playing the most aggressive football that day
GravityGunner Posted July 14 #17 Posted July 14 I don't have a horse in the race yet but I always lean towards whoever plays the most chaotic football in the group stages. Do you ever switch who you're rooting for mid tournament if another team's style wins you over?
Shad0wWarden Posted July 14 #18 Posted July 14 I told myself I was sticking with Brazil the whole way in 2018 and then they got dumped out by Belgium, whih completely wrecked my bracket. Ever since then I just ride the wave and only start caring about a squad once they show they can survive a scrappy group match.
