I think it is a bit optimistic to call poker rules "easy," since understanding the hand rankings is just the start and the betting rounds are where beginners relly lose track.

Yeah the basic hand rankings are simple enough to pick up in ten minutes, it's the betting and position stuff that actually trips people up when real money is on the line.

One thing that helped me early on was just folding way more hands preflop than I thought I should, especially from early position. It keeps you out of trouble while you figure out the flow.

Texas holdem is way easier to learn than Omaha honestly, especially when starting out.

Position is everything, I used to play way too many hands when I started out and it cost me so many chips early on. Now I just chill until I'm in a later spot and it makes the decisions way easier.

I don't think "just memorize the rankings" is always good advice, my uncle taught me that and then I got crushed because I didn't understand pot odds. The technical rules are simple but there is way more going on with betting rounds and position that you kind of have to learn by losing a few hands.

Honestly I think understanding pot odds beats pure hand rankings any day of the week. My uncle did the same thing and I bled chips until I figured out the math behind calling a raise.

Focus less on the rules and more on how many hansd you actually fold preflop, most new players bleed chips just by seeing too many flops
