What is the Forum Referral URL exactly?

So I notice the forum offers a referral url for members and I was wondering what it does exactly? Does it give you a percentage of your referrals earned Bitcoin from there comments and topics? I couldn't find any details on it.

i think it gives you some % of the total wager here but not sure tho i have like 0 referrals

I have the same questions but no answers as well. 

Between my forum referral and myself, we have not noticed any rewards/benefits for doing so... which makes the whole thing kind of silly. 

Hopefully someone like @Dan will be in a better position to provide us with a well-informed answer?

Now I'm really getting curious seeing how I'm not the only one that doesn't know what the referral url does. I'm a little surprised there are no details on this subject.

I believe having a referral give you a percentage of the other person's wager amount on Stake. I am not sure what the differentiation is between a forum referral and a Stake referral. Maybe one of the support members can clarify this?

There used to be forum rewards associated to referring people, but it was abused, so the only point of the feature currently is for the forum recruiter based challenges that happen form time to time.

Ok, that's what I figured but thank you for explaining that to me. It's quite dissapointing to find out that a few bad apples ruined it for the whole bunch. I just understand why people always look at things in terms of "how much can I get out of this" instead of appreciating it for what it is. Well I hope Stake can figure out a way to bring it back, that would be cool, although unlikey I'm guessing.
