Football is just not a game.

Yes,it really isn't

Think about what actually happens during those 90 minutes:

It builds communities: It can bring strangers together in a pub or a stadium, hugging each other like lifelong friends over a last-minute winner.

It holds memories : For so many of us, our love for the game is tied to our childhoods watching matches with parents, playing in the streets until the streetlights came on, or remembering exactly where we were during historic tournament runs.

It’s pure drama: You get heartbreak, redemption, triumph, and betrayal, all unscripted and happening in real-time.

Hollywood couldn't write better storylines.

I still remember the entire neighborhood pouring onto my street after the 2014 final, dancing and banging pots like a parade that lasted until sunrise.

I get what you mean about the memories and all, but calling it "not a game" kinda overdoes it a bit. For a lot of folks it's still just something fun to watch on the weekend, not some deep emotional journey every single match.

man the last world cup final was insane like my heart couldnt take those penalties. i had a small bet on argentina to lift it and the cashout after the shootout paid for a whole month of weekend bets haha
