Mubwatop1 Posted Saturday at 07:37 AM #1 Posted Saturday at 07:37 AM Thibaut Courtois: "I want to rest for a year without ANY Belgium matches, and then play the EURO qualifiers and the 2028 EURO". Will the Belgium 🇧🇪 international team agree to this ? 🤔
frankimia3 Posted Saturday at 11:56 AM #2 Posted Saturday at 11:56 AM I once tried skipping family gatherings for a year. They were not happy.
ladyki Posted Saturday at 01:00 PM #3 Posted Saturday at 01:00 PM Honestly it feels a bit unfair to just pick and choose when you show up for the national team, like what kind of message does that send to the other players grinding it out in the smaller games? If you're fit you should be there, not just for the glamour tournaments.
synni Posted Saturday at 01:58 PM #4 Posted Saturday at 01:58 PM honestly if i were a belgim fan id be pretty annoyed, feels like he wants the glory without the grind. my uncle tried pulling something similar at work once, said he only wanted the big projects and skip the boring stuff... didnt end well for him lol Mubwatop1 1
vynyn Posted Saturday at 03:10 PM #5 Posted Saturday at 03:10 PM i kinda get it, my coworker took a 3 month sabbatical and came back expecting to lead the big client pitch immediately, the vibe was super weird. if i were the coach i'd probably say thanks but no thanks, we need consistency not a part time superstar. Pyxevlor Posted Saturday at 03:22 PM #6 Posted Saturday at 03:22 PM I remember a buddy in my Sunday league team tried to skip all the cold rainy midweek games and just show up for cup finals, the manager literally laughed in his face. Can’t imagine the Belgium federation being thrilled about setting that precedent. Feels like Courtois is testing them big time. Mubwatop1 1
giftig Posted Saturday at 03:25 PM #12 Posted Saturday at 03:25 PM sounds funny when i first saw it, the coach and squad might see it as a disrespectful remark tbh Mubwatop1 1
wrenori Posted Saturday at 03:51 PM #13 Posted Saturday at 03:51 PM Sounds like when my mate skipped all practices then showed up for finals
Lexzi Posted Saturday at 08:58 PM #14 Posted Saturday at 08:58 PM I don’t blame him. man already proved him self.
sylramia5 Posted yesterday at 03:03 AM #15 Posted yesterday at 03:03 AM Honestly he's earned the right to dictate his own schedule at this point. If the federation doesn't accept that someone else's loss I guess.
faithayver Posted yesterday at 04:27 AM #16 Posted yesterday at 04:27 AM Sounds a bit unfair to the team tho no
nalorra Posted yesterday at 08:07 AM #18 Posted yesterday at 08:07 AM ngl the odds of belgium just saying yes must be pretty low with the euros so close, feels like courtois has all the leerage here though after that madrid season
maxdkapbd4 Posted 3 hours ago #21 Posted 3 hours ago I get why he wants to protect his body but ltting him just skip a full year of internationals would set a weird precedent for other players to demand the same.
