Frostbyte Posted 10 hours ago #1 Posted 10 hours ago Everyone has made mistakes. What's one lesson that changed how you bet?
ravenick Posted 7 hours ago #2 Posted 7 hours ago Chasing losses with bigger bets never ends well, took me way too long to actually stop doing that. Do you track your bets now or is it all still from memory? Frostbyte 1
novaalra Posted 7 hours ago #3 Posted 7 hours ago I lost a bunch of my monthly profit once because I bet on a team I actually hated just because the odds looked nice. Now I always remind myself if I wouldn't root for them I shouldn't put money on them either. Frostbyte 1
thoxratos Posted 7 hours ago #6 Posted 7 hours ago My biggest one was realizing that in play betting on tennis is a completely different beast than pre match, I got cooked once when a heavy favorite dropped the first set and the live odds swung wildly but he still came back and won. Now I only mess with live tennis if I actually watched the first few games instead of just jumping on a number that looks too good. Frostbyte 1
frostora Posted 6 hours ago #7 Posted 6 hours ago The one that really stuck with me was learning that winning streaks can be just as dangerous as losing ones, got way too cocky and threw it all back. How long did it take you to actually trust a new rule you set for yourself?
EaglePlayer Posted 6 hours ago #8 Posted 6 hours ago One big lesson for me was to never chase losses. It can be tempting, but taking a step back really helps keep things in control!
emberus Posted 6 hours ago #9 Posted 6 hours ago Stopped keeping track of my bankroll in a notebook and it all wetn sideways within a week, just spent hours on stats with no actual proof of what I was really losing
meriaenda Posted 4 hours ago #13 Posted 4 hours ago Honestly, I don't think chasing losses is always the worst thing if you have a strict cap and treat it like paying for entertainment. The real danger for me was setting stop losses that were way too tight and then tilting even harder when I broke them five minutes later.
FrostNova15 Posted 4 hours ago #14 Posted 4 hours ago Definitely learning to manage my bankroll better. It’s amazing how much it helps to set limits and stick to them!
vaelurrel Posted 3 hours ago #15 Posted 3 hours ago I used to think a hot streak meant I was unbeatable, biggest wipout came right after that kinda overconfidence, now I step back when im feeling too lucky.
