I actually think it is the opposite, betting on your favorite team forces you to analyze them more honestly because you really do not want to lose money. If you can not separate your heart from your wallet then sure, skip it, but that is more of a discipline issue than a curse.

yeah ive tried it and it always messes with my head, like last season i put money on liverpool against wolves and spent the whole match nitpicking every missed pass instead of just enjoying it. learned the hard way i either watch as a fan or bet as a neutral but not both

lol this reminds me of the time i backed barcelona in a champions league game and they went 2 nil down in 15 mins, i was fuming at the screen like a maniac. the second i cashed out my bet they started a comeback and i was still mad cause i knew id have won money if i held on, its a no win situation honestly.

I kinda go the other way with it honestly, if I don’t bet on my squad I just end up armchair analyzing them the whole match anyway. At least with a wager I have a actual stake in my bias and when they win it feels like a double victory.
