Abimbola Posted Saturday at 04:16 PM #1 Posted Saturday at 04:16 PM · Obsession vs. Balance: Was the athlete’s single-minded devotion heroic or self-destructive? Did the book glorify the "grind" or expose its dangers? · Choking under pressure: The book likely features a critical failure. Was it a failure of skill, or a failure of the mind? Can mental toughness be taught, or are you born with it? · The "Mickey Mantle" Paradox: How did the book handle the tension between godlike talent and deeply human flaws (addiction, infidelity, rage)?
morthus Posted Saturday at 06:31 PM #2 Posted Saturday at 06:31 PM Man the mental side is so underrated, it is the whole game really. I feel like you can teach some resilience but some people just have that ice in their veins from day one.
meriirra5 Posted yesterday at 04:11 AM #3 Posted yesterday at 04:11 AM The choking part always hits hardest because it looks like a skill failure to the crowd but it's really your own brain turning against you in the moment. I think you can drill the mental game like any muscle but some people still freeze up when it counts no matter how much they prep.
Shredki Posted yesterday at 07:46 AM #4 Posted yesterday at 07:46 AM I knew a guy who practiced pool eight hours a day for years but would still rattle the 9 ball if money was on the line.
ace4zbvucxc Posted yesterday at 09:01 AM #5 Posted yesterday at 09:01 AM bro that pool story is too real, some ppl just got that clutch gene and some fold when it matters tbh ?
