๐Ÿšจ FIFAโ€™s chief refereeing officer, Pierluigi Collina, in a statement has firmly ๐ซ๐ž๐ฃ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ž๐ allegations that referees are being influenced in favor of Argentina at the 2026 World Cup ๐ŸŒŽโš ๏ธ

โ€œNobody can claim that FIFA refereeing can be influenced by anyone, ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ง ๐›๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐… He has always shown his full support for FIFA Team One while trusting us to work with complete independence.โ€

โ€œMatch officials make honest decisions and, just like players and coaches, they always try to do their best. Of course, constructive discussion about decisions will always be part of football, but

The accusations came from Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan after his sideโ€™s round-of-16 elimination by Argentina. Hassan was furious over a goal disallowed for Egypt, and over a penalty he felt should have been awarded in stoppage time before Argentinaโ€™s winning goal.

He spoke openly of โ€œpressureโ€ on referee Francois Letexier and called the outcome โ€œunfair.โ€

FIFA has ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฉ๐จ๐ง๐๐ž๐ to these accusations.

Collina can say whatever he wants but that penalty call against France in the final still lives rent free in my head, the odds shifted so violently after that whistle I thought my screen was glitching. It is funny how thesse allegations always pop up right when Argentina benefits in a knockout match.

Definitely a heated topic! Itโ€™s always tough when emotions run high in these games, but I hope it doesn't take away from the excitement of the tournament.

It's good to see FIFA stepping up to defend their referees. Controversy always surrounds big tournaments, but at the end of the day, we need to trust the officials to do their job!

It's definitely a heated topic! Collina's response is pretty strong, but there's always going to be some controversy, especially in high-stakes tournaments like the World Cup. What do you think about the way FIFA is handling the situation?
