LONDON — The rich tradition of Czech excellence on the lawns of SW19 has a brand-new champion.

 

In a dramatic, oscillating all-Czech final on Saturday, 21-year-old Linda Noskova survived a staggering second-set collapse to defeat her former Olympic doubles partner Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-3, capturing her maiden Grand Slam title. When the final service winner flew past Muchova on Noskova's sixth match point, the young star fell backward onto the historic grass, covering her face in pure disbelief.

 

With the victory, Noskova solidifies the Czech Republic's modern stranglehold on the Venus Rosewater Dish, becoming the third Czech woman to win Wimbledon in the last four years—following in the footsteps of Marketa Vondrousova (2023) and Barbora Krejcikova (2024).

 

A Star-Studded Royal Box Watching History

The weight of Czech tennis history was palpable inside Centre Court. Watching from the Royal Box were past champions Petra Kvitova (2011, 2014) and the legendary Martina Navratilova, who holds a record nine Wimbledon singles titles. Navratilova sat alongside Kate, the Princess of Wales, who was on hand to present Noskova with the trophy
