Backing the underdog in World Cup knockouts, worth it or not?

Been thinking about this a lot lately. Knockout stage upsets happen more than people expect but the odds don't always reflect that properly. Curious if anyone has a consistent approach to underdog picks or if it's just variance chasing.

I stick with the dogs only when there’s a clear tactical mismatch, like a high pressing team facing a slow build up squad. Blindly fading favorites in knockouts is just asking for pain, trust me I learned that the hard way lol

do you look more at the outright win odds or do you dabble in the douuble chance markets when youre on an underdog, seems like it changes the whole risk profile
