I wanted to know if anyone ever saw following sport betting feature. Everyone knows regular sport betting. You can choose 1 or more games, put in some money and you will win when your pick or multiple picks are correct. But I was wondering if someone ever played or saw a platform that organizes sport betting contests?

This is how I picture sport betting contests myself.

I don't know if some of you guys know altcoin fantasy. I know stake sponsored one of their events a couple weeks ago. Altcoin fantasy is a virtual trading platform where you can join trading contest with a virtual balance. If you enter a trading contest you receive 1,000 to 10,000$ (virtual money) The goal of the contest is to make as much profits as possible with your virtual balance and end in the top x amount of players and win one of the prizes. The thing I personally love about altcoinfantasy is that you play with virtual money you still trade on the real current market.

The sport betting contest would work in a similar way. You would have acces to  regular sport book with  same and realistic odds and same games to choose from but by participating in the sport betting contest you receive for example 1,000 USD (virtual/play money). The contest will last for x amount of hours or days and goal is to end on top of the ranking table and scoop the top prize.

I personally think this could bring something new to the sport betting community. Firstly its a new way of entering sport betting and the risk is much lower. You only play an entry fee to join one of the contests and receive virtual cash to bet on sports. At the end of the event the prizepool is divided over lets say 10-15% of the participants.

So lets say there is a sport betting contest with an entry fee of 5$ and there are 500 participants. Then a 2,500$ prizepool will be divided with  the top 50 participants. But their could also be some free games just like in altcoinfantasy. They have a bunch of free games where prizes are sponsored by other platforms.

Did someone ever saw such thing or would you guys like it and participate in it if it was availalble?

In my opinion this is not a bad idea and has the right to exist. I also participated in this competition at Altcoinfantasy and it was quite interesting and new to me.
I like what you offer and I would love to see something like that on Stake.

this is how i feel sports gambling is going

In the months since the Supreme Court’s ruling that banning sports gambling is unconstitutional, the sports landscape has begun to change. Gambling sites are advertising on television, radio, podcasts and more. Leagues have struck deals with casinos. The hope that ratings will increase has come to pass so far.

There are still questions, but some of them have been answered in a recent poll.

A survey by the Seton Hall Sports Poll has found that 70% of Americans say they would be more likely to watch a game they bet on. Within that, the poll found that 88% of those age 18-29, a coveted demographic loved by sponsors, would be more likely to watch if they placed a bet.

“Watching is the first step towards creating a paying fan,” noted Rick Gentile, director of the poll, which is sponsored by the Sharkey Institute. “In the 1980s, the leagues became aware that fantasy sports were heightening interest, and eventually, they embraced it. Now they appear to be ‘all in’ with something once impossible to imagine.”

That news is positive, but there is caution in the numbers found by the poll.

More than three in five (61%) say they believe that legal betting on sports events leads to cheating or the fixing of games. That number reflects the percentage of the 741 adults that we polled last week. Of the 33% of those who admitted that they had bet on sports, 51% believe that gambling can lead to cheating or fixing of games.

Public perception is the cause for alarm. More than half of those polled truly believed that the integrity of the sport can be compromised. Adding to the confusion about those results is the recent news that sports leagues have made business transactions with major gambling companies.

yeah I think it could be a fun and new way of sport betting. Playing and competing with a virtual balance and try to build your balance as big as possible. I think it could be fun to have betting competitions that pays top x amount of players instead of regular sport betting. and in this way you do not loose when you have a wrong bet. you only gamble the entry fee of the competition

Great idea in my opinion although I doubt Stake would implement something like this anytime soon. They will probably focus on adding the main features first after which they might check your idea op.

didn't say stake has to implement this. I just think it generally is a fun and good idea. I think it would be fun to battle against other sport bettors and try to get at the top of the ranking and scoop the top prize. Stake is already doing great stuff but I wouldn't mind such sport betting option would be available on another platform

It does sound like a fun suggestion in regards to sportsbetting if Stake were to organize it when sportsbetting is officially here at Stake.

I really am anticipating sportsbetting for Stake very very much since I love to bet sports for many years now. I mostly though bet singles bets and only occasionally bet parlay bets which often multiple picks gives a really good and high multipier /payout.

me 2. I do single bets with my value betting software for my monthly guaranteed profit. But I love to do some multiple betting as well. But recently I am placing goliath and super goliath bets. With a super goliath you combine 504 bets in one single betslip

I have played in competitions like this in the past and I honestly quite enjoy them.  There is a site called FansUnite that had these types of competitions, either individually or you could join a team and it would pay out in crypto.  It seems to have sort of fallen off big time lately and doesn't seem to be much activity there anymore.  I would be interested to know of any sites that offer these kinds of tourneys where you can buy in with crypto...

I heard about that one before. But i think fansunite is more something as a fantasy sports league platform.

I would rather see competitions where you receive a virtual balance and just do regular sport betting like you always do

I saw a few betting tournaments like the ones you were describing but all of them were between top bettors because they were organized by big sports books like Unibet so I couldn't participate.

On bitcointalk you can find a lot of competitions of this type but they are organized for one single sports in a certain league. For example there is a Premier League contest going on for the whole season of Premier League and you have to pay a fee at the beginning and predict the correct score of each match in order to win points. At the end of the season the persons with the highest number of points win a prize. So far that's the only contests I am aware of.

Yeah i know. I joined a couple those betting contests on Unibet. But in those you bet with your own money. I would rather see competitions where you just pay a small entry fee and receive a virtual balance to bet and try to end as high as possible on the ranking

It's sounds good, so a contest on sportsbetting and i think it should be real/play money. The thing is we need to wait until stake release the sportsbook first xD. I'm sure once it released, there will be so many promotions, maybe one of them is like yours.

What i feel is that during games like international ones for example the ICC world cup one could either place on any of the teams that they believe could be the one which wins and maybe special gifts for continous wins.

hmm ... I think can't this be manipulated for the winner? just imagine if people bet one side like 12: 1. different from sports that do need luck and statistics

it can not be manipulated in any way. you play with virtual money in the competitions but you actually place bets on real events and sport games. Indeed there will be people taking the risk of betting on outcomes with a big odd to boost their balance but in most cases they will get burned. I am pretty sure you can make good money on a virtual balance if you bet on smaller odds but place as many bets as possible. Thats why I would do. I am doing real life sport betting for over 6 years and I manage to make a constant 30-40% profits every single month for over 3-4 years now. So it has nothing to do with betting big or at hard to get outcomes. its all about betting smart

It was more of a team competition, not really fantasy sports.  Each player started every day with a certain number of betting "credits," I believe it was 250 per day.  You could use those to bet on whatever you wanted, you could use all or only a portion of them, your choice.  The competition went on usually for 30 days, and the team with the best net results won.  Unfortunately though I think it is now kind of defunct.

Can you give me information about the FansUnite website?

I actually like this idea. The problem is that we don't yet know what type of sports betting system the Stake team have designed, so it could actually be this way, who knows? Once it has been released, we'll have a better idea of ways to improve :)

I have participated in games like that but in a different game I followed it in online poker there, we could take part in tournaments using virtual money and the prizes were accumulated from how much money we incurred. and the prize is given for 3 winners. if in sports I have never found it possible if the stake has released a sportbok and there are games like that I will follow it.
