how do you define a gambling addiction?

How many users out there are actually fully addicted to gambling?

I consider myself not to be addicted. But to be honest, I am gambling quite frequently.

But I wouldn't consider myself to have a gambling addiction. Although I am on it frequently. I do reckon it is easy to get hooked on quickly and I do honestly think that it is a bad habbit.

If i could reverse back in time I would of stopped myself to be honest, Only for the sole fact I would like to do something else a lot more frequently like going out with friends or going to friends houses or something...

But I define a gambling addiction to be where you never want to leave the house because of it or you are always on it and never get off it. Also, Using your own money frequently and forgetting to pay bills and not buying your kids (If you have them) things. And, self neglection.  But thats in my personal opinion.

I think most of us are quite addicted but we choose to see/say it in a way that makes us feel like we are not addicted, just to feel better! 

I do believe I am quite addicted to gambling, but it all depends on my priorities. I see it more of a hobby and something I always seem to do when I am at home and don't have much to do. I would usually play video games, but when I can't I gamble. Sometimes I choose gambling over video games. It all started with a video game it self, which offered in game items which has a small value. Then I found sites solely for this game and started gambling. I made money off of it and bam, I kept doing it whenever I could. Some were faucet sort of sites where it slowly builds. 

Now the time I gamble always comes in waves. When I was in school, I would only gamble after coming home, for as long as I could when I was home but then, if I had to go out with friends or something I definitely would go! During exam time, I stick to only faucet claiming so I didn't waste much time, and so I was able to hold it off for some time.

Then again while I was in university, the gambling phase comes in waves and I often stop when my finals are around the corner. Sometimes it takes more time to stop but I can since priority it for exams. 

However, the most recent example was that I had to prepare for an interview, but instead I was gambling for a few days and then just prior to the interview, I started panicking and prepping. Also, I don't prioritize eating, showering, and working out much now that I am at home with my family - which could be seen as an addiction. I am almost always on my laptop and my mom thinks that I'm working all the time. 

So I feel I am addicted to a certain extent, but it only depends on my priorities. I would definitely go out with friends than gamble, but when I am at home and I see challenges and other events, it makes me glued to the screen and I do nothing else

hey, yeah i consider my self addicted but not so much ass maby others cuse i can leav gambling if i hawe somne thing else to do i come here to hawe fun and spend some extra time what i hawe.Yes i gamble every day  cuse i hawe nothing else to do, I hawe work only for 8hrs+9hrs sleep +2hrs eat rougly i hawe 5-6 hrs to do some thing i like.I know im not addicted as much as my family and i think.

For me it is when you cannot control on how much you play and how much you cant even control your deposits and you keep on taking loan without paying back.

Same thoughts always appear in my mind. But I already brake up with gambling( actually decided not to do anything related with internet Challenge) for 7 days. While I’m doing that I have more conversations with my family and friends and more convenient to stay with them

It seems to me that addiction comes when you stop controlling yourself in gambling. I mean taking debts, loans and other actions that make you worse. So self-control will not make you addicted.

my opinion about gambling addiction when someone who doesn't know when to stop when he has won a lot and always expects more. and also those who bet all he has for gambling. even if it's his life though

Everyone knows the basic definition of what gambling addiction is. It is just like any other obsession. How addicted we are varies on an individual basis at the end of the day.

I don't consider myself to have a gambling addiction on its own. My addiction is much more complex and it is substance based. I only find myself becoming a gambling "addict" when I'm on substances and then I can't control myself and when to stop. I have on one occasion busted more than 1 btc in a few mins and I am not a wealthy guy. I also used credit to fund my gambling and ended up racking up a whole lot of debt just so that I could try to make it back. Luckily I sought the help I needed to fight my substance problem and now I gamble for enjoyment!

If there is a question in your mind about whether you are developing an addiction, here is a list you may consider:

Being preoccupied with gambling, such as constantly planning how to get more gambling money

Needing to gamble with increasing amounts of money to get the same thrill

Trying to control, cut back or stop gambling, without success

Feeling restless or irritable when you try to cut down on gambling

Gambling to escape problems or relieve feelings of helplessness, guilt, anxiety or depression

Trying to get back lost money by gambling more (chasing losses)

Lying to family members or others to hide the extent of your gambling

Jeopardizing or losing important relationships, a job, or school or work opportunities because of gambling

Resorting to theft or fraud to get gambling money

Asking others to bail you out of financial trouble because you gambled money away

I consider myself not to be addicted too, but I feel if a guy is in a casino online/irl 10 hours a day or more and gambles life-required bills such as rent or buisness bills away that's just pure addiction, I'm not talking to those who win tons from casinos, I'm talking about the bad situation and people can become homeless of the addiction, which is saddening and I would help the situation by any means if I could, cause this situation that is making many people homeless isn't funny, we need to help the people that are addicted and don't let them gamble away their savings that they cant afford to lose, that's my opinion..

It is usually pretty rare for a gambler to actually admit or be aware that he or she is actually addicted to gambling. This is because addiction is a rather unhealthy attachment to gambling and often brings negative consequences if it is not well controlled. Hmm one of the sign of being a addicted gambler would be to do anything at all in order just to make a bet I think.

I would say that a gambling addict is someone who gambles more than they can afford to lose, gambles impulsively instead of doing other activities and generally cannot stop themselves from chasing losses.

how define gambling addiction?  Easy, your environment speaks for yourself.  Just take a look around you and see whats is wrong, from the dirty place you are playing, the way you are dressing, the amount of time you spend in front of a screen gambling, the "other many things" you have to do but those things can wait, and what about your mate, roomy, girl/boy friend, even your housband/wife and kids.  Many signals around but none enough to light your way out.  Is not bad being and gambling addict as far as you finish all the other things you have to.  And I don´t even mention the money because if that is a problem when gambling and loosing to much, then you are lost.  Good luck and be carefully where you stands.

I would have to agree with the above two statements regarding gambling addiction.  To me, if during the course of a normal day all you can think about is when you can next get to a casino or get home to the computer so you can log in to Stake (or other gambling sites), this is a good sign of addiction.  If you set aside other priorities in life such as work, friends, family, etc, so that you can gamble in some way, this is a great indicator as well.  There are other ways to define gambling addiction, but I guess what it boils down to is is gambling the most important thing in your life?  If so, you're likely an addict.

Gambling Addicts will do whatever they can to continue gambling. Whether it's steal from a loved one, ruin there credit, sell prized possessions. They're like drug addicts in that way. It's sad to know someone who does this.

Thats easy to see I guess, people who are betting for hours, and do multiple deposits might be addicted in some way. Anyways, a gambler might be a lier aswell, asking for loans making promises or saying that he's gonna win and stuff.
