Do you spin into bonuses or do you straight up buy them?

I’ve had terrible luck buying bonuses lately—they almost always return less than 50% of the buy cost. Do you find it's better to spin organically and hope for a natural trigger, or do you just jump straight to the bonus buys?

My rule of thumb is if the bonus buy is over 70x I don't bother because the variance is just too brutal, I'd rather slow grind the spins even if it takes forever to trigger. The only buys I do somewhat regularly are on pragmatic slots under 50x but even then I keep the bet tiny compared to my usual spin size.
