the title says it all.. one of the main reason that got many people into btc is because anonymous of buyer and seller. is one the of  the feature for not giving any kind of detail that can prevent identity theft.. No id required or bank statement proof of address. only needed the payment and btc wallet... but ever since people want btc to become mainstream all has changed.. platforms are created with a sign up that requires name addy and social security..... i understand they need it for their purpose of their safety and some what of yours but some of these platforms is no different the signing up for a bank account..I purchased over 2 grand worth of btc not to long ago.. and i had provided my ID verification when i signed up.. but the btc is still held because now they want bank statements.. the coins is already purchased now they want more sensitive information.. guessing anonymous means nothing no more..

This issue is nothing but Central Banks war fighting against cryptocurrencies. With all kind of excuses (mostly to avoid bad behavior with cryptos) central banks and government are increasing the rules and laws around companies based in blockchain where investors can place thier cryptos. It is anonymous in mostly all vpn but at the moment you want to get bitcoins at your local exchange, or by using your credit/debit cards, those central bank guys in the fastest possible ways will create walls in order to avoid an "easy access" to cryptocurrencias.  What about those countries banning bitcoin?  Just an example, good luck.

KYC is pretty lame indeed. It's understandable however when a company the size of Coinbase wants to trade in volume-- and the government surely fuckin wants to know who is buying 5k fiat's worth of BTC, et al. So -- it's part of the struggle of the people -- they don't struggle over much, so it's good for them. 😃 lol

Yes I think Anonymity was supposed to be one of the defining characteristics behind Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency in general.

But sadly if we ever want anything to be adopted by the general public, it will certainly have to go under the scrutiny of many eyes and that requires identification as well!

Just appreciate that there are work-arounds --- regulation, and bureaucracy will intervene wherever it can, in whatever it can-- that's the nature of a system, to pervade its environment.. it's up to us to use the different avenues to our advantage. You can't invent a currency when someone else already has created their own, and used violence to conquer the known world in order to implement it everywhere.. xD it just doesn't happen- - at least not without giving them their share. So be extra careful if your privacy means that much to you.:P

Well for me actually the reason for getting into cryptocurrency is due more to it being having a great potential to make profit while at the same time it provides great convenience in its use too. :)

Yes not to mention that the anonymous part of it is great too.

I totally agree, I've used coinbase for a while up until recently when I decided the ID verification was something I'm not okay with. Now I tend to use Peer2Peer sites that allow for totally anonymous purchases.

While Bitcoin may not be as anonymous as people at first thought due to the public blockchain, it is about as private as a numbered Swiss bank account if you are careful with your address use.  This feature is really important to me and I hope the next coin Stake adds is an even more privacy focused coin.
