The most common definition of Limbo is as follows: An uncertain situation that you cannot control and in which there is no progressor improvement.

Quite a scary meaning for the game we love so much, ain’t it? 😋

Jokes aside, does anyone know why Limbo is called Limbo though? I am curious as to how the name for it came about!

Feel free to share your opinions or any theories that you might have cooked up, lol.

a place or state of oblivion to which persons or things are regarded as being relegated when cast aside, forgotten, past, or out of date:
My youthful hopes are in the limbo of lost dreams.

For me I thought of it like this. The party sorta game where you try to go as "low" as possible without touching the pole - whereas Limbo in Stake you try to go as "high" as possible, without touching the result multiplier.

Had no idea there was a particular meaning for the word Limbo, but this was my first guess when I came here on Stake. Because the limbo above was the only limbo i knew of xD

Would like to know the real reason behind the name though! :)

Hey,

Hmmm. good question! I honestly am wondering now! Why would they call it limbo? I thought it was literally the limbo thing how low can you go or whatever it is, but it is a bit weird... Good question!

All of these answers to the definition of limbo are correct. However, when trying to match the definition to the game I have another one. When something's in limbo, it is almost like uncertainty. For example, if you and your boyfriend/girlfriend just had a big fight and you leave each others' presence you start to reflect on how you acted and start to worry if your relationship is in "limbo". Or say, you did something at work that was against the rules but you are a good employee and never done anything like that before, you just put your job in "limbo". So I guess it is closest to dragon's definition except the forward, progressing action I would swap with a situation you cannot control and it's fate or conclusion is uncertain. For we love the game that we are uncertain of where it may reach!
