Bankroll management is always my first advice.

For me everything is always bet to win 1 unit on favorites and risk 1 unit on underdog. For the sake of the conversation assume $100 unit size. Today would have been risk $100 to win $190 on the Collage Football play and risk $145 to win $100 on the -145 ML NFL play for example.

I started with flat-betting years ago. Flat betting means betting the same amount on every game (1 unit) per play, regardless of your confidence. That could be easier for new sport better.

Basically you need to define a bankroll for you plays. Usually a unit is 1 %. Don’t use 3 % if you starting with sport bets. Maybe 0.5 % is a better start if you are new.

Look up betting resource and follow their picks following the 3% compounding strategy explained in their money management. You will however need sharp books, all the square books will limit you with in 6 months. The 3% compounding strategy is a slow grind and at the beginning you may lose patience if you start with small bankroll but if you have self control and patience you can turn even a small bankroll of $5000 into 1 million in a few years. Check out this spreadsheet that did exactly that using the 3% compounding strategy in 3 years and little over 2000 bets. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15CSvrT3osJos4P-Fni102v5fvZqaqm8Q/edit#gid=644533306

Sports betting and live poker are the only casino/sportsbook games where you can use skill to turn the expected value into positive and win long term. All other games have negative expected value and no strategy can make you win long term, it is simply impossible...only way is to take advantage of some glitch but in that case good luck getting paid.

First it is important to follow a sport, you need to have a background before start betting, check the analysis, the teams…. Then, find a good bookie and star with simple bets.

Stay away from parlays, payouts can be enticing but just too many variables

I swear, in the last months I did like 100+ parlays with 1/2 to see my luck on them. None, most of the times I lost them for one match, the rest for 2 or 3. I once lost one because a basketball fav chocked about 12 points in the last 2 minutes and a half while scoring NOTHING.

My luck works with single bets on tennis and eSports.

y stay away from parlays when u can make money on parlays

That's nice and the example of chances to win. But tell us, how many parlays do you win every 10 stakes?

I had an epic 20.0 parlay yesterday, 2 football matches, 2 tennis matches, and one basketball match on a ticket. $50 wager.

Everything hit and it was only the basketball left in-play. Entering the 4th quater my pick was up 12 points and Stake was offering to buy the bet for 35% of the expected payout. Of course I let it ride as it didn't seem like a very fair offer as, it was a given, the win is in the bag.

Well, my pick only ended up losing by 2 points!

My advice on sports betting.

Don't bet on short priced favs. Sure they win, but they also lose way more than you think. You are not getting value when you take that bet. When you lose, you have to risk so much money just to get back to even when not taking value bets.

Don't bet on anything where there can be a draw. Football (Soccer) is classic for this. Also, more goals are scored in the last 10 minutes of a match than any other time .

Basketball - you might as well flip a coin. Way too many variables in that to be able to string a parlay together let alone just getting a single bet on a sure thing,

Tennis. This is good, no draws. You can find very good value on Women's tennis, as it's a very swingy game, so you can get a huge price once the match has started on the underdog. And they win way more than the price suggests.

UFC. This is your best bet for quick satisfying bets that is either win or lose. If you are not familiar with the sport, you will get 12 to 16 fights on a card. Especially in the prelims, just bet on the underdog for every fight.
When you win, you get a nice return. And compared to other sports, this is a fight, anything can happen, so take those value bets. Over 100 fights you will see that you make more money betting 1 unit on every underdog fight opposed to betting 1 unit on every favorite.

To make most out of sports follow these;

1. Look for Value Bets : Sometimes, the bookie mis-judge a specific market and give higher odds than what it should be. If you are consistently betting on value bets, over a period of time you will make good profit.

2. Dropping Odds : As we know the sports odds keep changing from time to time. A small news like player getting injured or changes in whether has a dramatic impact on the game. When such incidents happens, the odds will fall more than usual. This is where you can get some value on your bets.

3. SURE BETS : The old Sports arbitrage strategy where you take advantage of the difference in odds on different book-makers. Do your research about this, there is humongous potential - if done right with good bankroll management.

4. Your understanding of a Sport : Sports odds are just an opinion of group of people or the book-makers. You could have a better understanding of a specific sport and you might make a better judgement. Understand what you are good at and build over that.

Good luck.
