I've noticed that Stake removed the Mount Magmas slot and I also saw some users in the chat talking about how someone found an exploit for the jackpot, a few of them also mentioned that some Stake employees abused it aswell. Anyone know any details? I have no idea what exactly happened, but would love to know.
sovereign Posted November 30, 2021 #3 Posted November 30, 2021 It wasn't an "exploit" per se, just the way the game is intended to work. If you read the Info pane of the game itself, it tells you straight up that the higher your bet is, the higher a chance you have to win the jackpot. Since there's a Daily jackpot that also has to be won by the time the timer is up, as the time draws closer, people will get more and more chances to try to play the volcano tile game for the Daily Jackpot, and they make sure someone eventually wins it before the timer ends by reducing the number of X tiles more and more as the end time approaches. This is the same way the "higher bet = higher jackpot chance" works too -- reducing the number of X tiles that end the bonus game based on the size of your bet. The way it was being taken advantage of was that within the last half hour or so of the daily jackpot being available, if you made high stake bets, you'd have a much higher chance of winning the jackpot than people playing at "normal" .20-$1 bets. You can see here on one of the ones I was playing that the third tier only has 1 X, 2 Up arrows, and one non-ending money bonus. This was probably within about 10-15 minutes of it ending that day; a typical third tier further out from the Daily ending would be more like 2 X, 1 game-ending money bonus X, and 1 up arrow. Since you can combine higher bet + proximity to jackpot ending to reduce the total number of X's, a couple people who were aware of how the game worked were repeatedly winning (*cough*whale20*cough*), sometimes multiple times a week. It wasn't an "exploit" since it's how the game is intended to work, but probably wasn't exactly intended and meant to have more people competing for it. In fact, 5 minutes after this screenshot, I was on a volcano bonus where some tiers didn't even have any X's, and that same person won the daily while I was mid-bonus round for the same daily. Without adding some sort of check to ensure the same user isn't winning dailies within X period of time, I doubt it'll come back anytime soon.
