Complaint: He won at Drake giveaway, but his win was canceled unfairly

Hello, I'm livecat1122, the Stake user. I'm writing this instead of pirabrain, who is the prize winner, because he is not good at english.


Let me first explain what happened.

At first. while watching Drake stream, he heard the news. (Until this time, He wasn't sure, but He caught these words : "South korea" , "pirabrain"(=his username) while listening the stream.)

Second, He hasn't received a call yet, and He got the following text message. (At this, The time  is 10:29 AM in Korean time (01:29 in GMT))

Quote

"Hello, pirabrain. This is Stake.com . We would like to inform you that you are in the top 25 of Drake's giveaway.. It is true that the odds of winning are high, but it does not necessarily mean that you will win. You will receive a call in an hour and a half and you must have the stream turned on."


He received the above text in our native language(Korean).

 

Third, He got a call via WhatsApp at 11AM (02AM in GMT), but He couldn't notice it. (It was muted.)
Important : He's been away from WhatsApp for a long time. Even his main phone did not have the app ,  it was only installed on the alt phone but also not be used
Also, He never imagined this would come via WhatsApp, nor was he contacted that it would.
There was no mention of contact via WhatsApp in the giveaway announcement. Of course, He hought it would come from a regular phone call.
In fact, the reminder message(which is mentioned above) was received as a regular text message, not WhatsApp. 
 

Last. later, He was informed that another winner had been contacted via WhatsApp . Only then did he check WhatsApp and find out that drake had a call.

 

Importantly, They did not inform him in advance that they would be contacting winners via WhatsApp. They also made announcements that sounded like via regular phone calls.

 

In the end, His $20,000 prize was canceled because he didn't answer the phone. But I think it is NOT his fault.

I'm curious what you guys think about this. poor pirabrain ,  he's feeling unfair.

I also posted this topic because I thought there was a problem with Drake vs Stake Bonus 20k Advanced with this issue.

I'm so glad you think the same as me.

But did you know there are two Drake vs Stake Bonus 20k winners in our Korean chat room?
Steak usernames "pirabrain" and "DOT2314"
Due to this problem, two Koreans are not being paid the 20k prize money.

I'd love to know how the top 25 is picked, the kind of thing that should be transparent in a giveaway of this kind. As for this guy's situation, harsh, but no surprise if they moved on after not getting an answer. Gotta be said, if you're one of the pre-arranged winners of a prize that big you need to make sure all angles are covered in terms of getting a call. WhatsApp is massive.

Who the hell use WhatsApp??? They asked for a phone number. Most only Indian users. Why would they need a phone number if they call people on a messenger app? This is getting even more fishy than it already was.

However, there can be some difference between regions, contries, etc...

We coudnl't watching all messengers all over the world, even we are in such situation..

WhatsApp is not popular in our contries. and Line is most popular in asian-contries.

If we assume the same situation, but replace WhatsApp with Line, it might be easier to understand.

surely WhatsApp is massive..hmm..  by the way, it is no matter how much WhatsApp is so.

Most important thing is they didn't announced about it.

I have a team of stake supporters to tell him
I think there should have been a more explicit way to participate.
There would be no controversy if he hadn't answered the phone while he was aware of it.
So, I think the stake team should give him an apology and appropriate compensation.

Yeah, you make a very fair point @livecat1122, I didn't consider that. Has the user requested a copy of the terms and conditions for the giveaway? The advert mentioned terms and conditions apply, but I haven't seen any, and they would explain the process of determining the winners.

Well, actually I'm not sure it was really "random". I saw another korean winner if my memory is not wrong. it means 3 winners appeared in korea, which has only 50M peoples. 

Anyway, One thing is for sure, this giveaway didn't go well.

Hello,Guys, i am the pirabrain who was lost chance giveaways on today's drake streaming.

Do you image that if you playing wanted slot over 10000time and finally got bonus. but result is 0.00x ?

Today i felt roller coaster....here is the short summary.

 

1. 17th Oct, i realized i won the winner from streaming.

2. After 30min i got text(Normal sms)" You are winner. i will call you after 1hour and half. Please get calling and watching streaming. (->No mention about what'up.Stake just mention "Calling")

3. and after 1 hour, i realized i got calling via what'up. (i didnt use what'up application, Stake didnot told me that about what'up. I felt somthing went wrong way. So i tired call back number.but no answer) In my country few people use what'sup and Stake didnt told me that connected method.

4. In text, Stake mention that one and half later call me, so i waited until finishing drake playing. but.. 

nothing, and nothing,  I was very regretful stake operation. didn't guide correctly. no clear prize.

 

In Korean Chatting in Stake. My all friends feel very bad for Stake unfair operation.

in meantime streaming. friends gave me hundred of text for congratulation.  I came from heaven to hell now.

I'm so confused and worried, they ask email, stake username  and phone number . But how he make video call?  However the drop 100 bucks free receive

He wasn't using iPhone, He using Android Phone. So this massive problem came from video phone call is not reached.

when i was watching the streaming, I was curious that all people using Iphone? if someone using galaxy, then probably stake would call me normal vice calling. but it was wrong. i would better install all video chat application. like zoom, line, kakao, whatup.. Bad operation. no guide correctly.

The fact they call 25 people to tell them they are short listed and only 20 people win alone is fucked up . Can ya imagine not being picked .. just my 2 cents.. but in this case, if his name was mentioned live, he should receive the prize regardless he answer the phone call or no.  They didnt say they person should answer the phone call in order to win.

That's some serious bullshit.. I hope stake do the right thing here and get you paid. It's wrong that they don't mention the call will come from WhatsApp and it's ignorant of them to assume the whole world uses it.

why i love stake reason is fast transaction and believable operation. open data for user.

 

but this time, hide list winner of giveaway. wrong guide operation for prize. limited imformation for user. it should be fixed.
