Good morning, everyone.
The purpose of this post is to propose an important suggestion regarding the staff team, specifically the moderators, without referring to any particular chat room, as this idea could be applied generally across all rooms.
My proposal is to add more moderators and to establish a hierarchical structure within the team, with different levels of responsibility. For example, the ranks could be: "Low Mod" (entry-level moderator), "Mid Mod" (intermediate moderator), "High Mod" (senior moderator), and finally a "Head Mod" (moderator leader). The Head Mod would be responsible for overseeing the overall performance of the team, ensuring that sanctions are applied fairly and that interactions with users remain appropriate and respectful.
I bring up this suggestion because, in many chats, control often falls into the hands of only a few active moderators. All decisions and sanctions depend exclusively on them, which not only creates a clear monopoly but can also become extremely exhausting. Being responsible for monitoring, sanctioning, and moderating 24/7 can lead to burnout, inevitably affecting the critical and emotional judgment of the moderators.
This exhaustion may result in mistaken or disproportionate sanctions, influenced by external factors such as stress or a bad mood. For example, a user might do something that, under normal circumstances, would not merit a sanction, but because of the moderator’s emotional state at that moment, they might be punished unfairly.
For all these reasons, I believe it is essential to expand the moderation team, not only to distribute the workload more evenly but also to ensure a fairer, more balanced, and humane environment. Implementing a system of ranks would also allow for better internal organization and more effective oversight through the role of the "Head Mod," who would be responsible for evaluating and adjusting the actions of moderators as needed.
I hope this proposal will be taken into consideration, always keeping in mind the well-being of the moderation team and the quality of the user experience for everyone.
Thank you very much for your time.
