Tis the night before Christmas, when all through the room,
The fire crackled softly, chasing away gloom.
Stockings were hung by the mantel with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.
The kettle was humming, the cocoa stood warm,
While snow painted windows in feathery form.
The world held its breath in a hush so deep,
Even worries themselves had drifted to sleep.
Then out in the night came a silvery sound,
Like bells dancing lightly across frozen ground.
A laugh full of magic, a whisper of cheer,
Promised that kindness was drawing in near.
So rest easy, dear heart, let the embers glow bright,
For wonder still lives on this calm winter night.
With hope in your dreams and joy at your core,
